An Iris Stellick Thriller · Book 1
Before Marisol Kade Died
B.M. Chandler
Coming soon.
She can walk through a murder once. The killer walks it with her.
About the book
Every time she walks through a murder, the killer is standing in the room with her. And he can see her.
Iris Stellick works nights for the Tallow County Coroner's Office. She photographs the dead, measures the rooms they died in, and writes down what everyone else misses. She also has the thing her mother had: when someone is murdered, Iris can walk back through the time before the death, once, before the third dawn erases it. She can't change anything, and she can't save anyone. And somewhere, wherever he is, the man who did it is pulled back into that room too, looking straight at her.
She hasn't done it since she was nineteen.
Then a lock clerk is found dead in her car by the frozen river, the third "suicide" in a month. The car is empty of any walk. But the marks on the woman's skin say she died somewhere else, and when Iris finds the room, she walks the night it happened. The killer looks up. Now he knows her face, her jacket, and where she works.
Detective Theo Castellanos thinks Iris knows too much about too many deaths to be innocent. He's careful, relentless, and on the wrong side of every argument they have. But when a second walk nearly stops her heart, he's the one holding her wrist.
With a killer who's watching her, a brother who's just taken a job on the lock wall and a river that's freezing over, Iris has one way to prove what she saw: the slow, ordinary, physical evidence nobody else wanted to find.
Before Marisol Kade Died is the first Iris Stellick Thriller.
