The series
An Iris Stellick Thriller
The killer can see her. That's the price.
Iris Stellick works nights for the coroner in Tallow, a river city that floods every spring and freezes every January. She photographs the dead and takes the temperature of the rooms they died in. She writes down what everyone else steps over.
When someone is murdered, she can do one more thing. She can stand where it happened, say the victim's name, and walk back through the stretch of time before the death. She can't touch anything or change anything, and she can't save anyone. She gets one walk, and it's gone by the third dawn.
Wherever the killer is, he goes still, and he's back in that room. He can't touch her. He can look straight at her, and he does.
Each book is one case, opened and closed. Behind every case, someone has been waiting a long time for her to start walking again.
Book 1
Before Marisol Kade Died
The third suicide of the winter was sitting behind the wheel of her own car, and she couldn't have reached the pedals.
On a frozen January night a lock clerk is found dead in her car by the river, the third “suicide” in a month. The car is empty of any walk. But the marks on her skin say she died somewhere else, and when Iris finds the room, she walks the night it happened.
The killer looks up.
Now he knows her face, her jacket, and where she works. And her brother has just taken a job on the lock wall.
Closed-door romance: slow-burn tension, with no on-page sex. Contains suspense, murder, menace and non-graphic violence.
